AFC Congress: Qatar to support Bahrain

DOHA, Qatar: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced its support for Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa for a new term in the AFC Presidency at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) General Assembly in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on April 6.

“QFA has been consistent and supportive of Sheikh Salman since he assumed the AFC presidency where I worked closely with him. As for Asian football, I and the QFA in general will continue to support him. We’re fully confident that he can lead Asia in the way required to power Asian football to a bright future,” said QFA Vice-President Saud Abdul Aziz Al Mohannadi, who was one of the candidates for the post, in a statement.

The AFC President expressed his thanks and appreciation of QFA for their support. He stressed that the cooperation reflects the spirit of unity among the Asian football family and confirms that everyone is walking in one direction in the Asian continent.

Al Mohannadi welcomed the visit of HE Shaikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa to Qatar. He said that the visit is in harmony with the spirit of solidarity among the pillars of the Asian football system under the leadership of HE Shaikh Salman.
