ATK hope to avenge ISL defeat against FC Goa in Super Cup today

BHUBANESWAR, Odisha: ATK assistant coach Bastab Roy exuded confidence ahead of their crucial knock-out match against FC Goa in the Super Cup on Tuesday.

“We have come here to win. We believe in our abilities and we know if we perform to our potential, we can win tomorrow's match against FC Goa,” said Roy.

The Kolkata side had defeated Chennai City FC in the qualifiers, but they're up against their familiar opponents who had won 4-1 at home followed by a 1-1 draw when the two sides had met in ISL.

“We had played against them in the ISL in February. A lot has changed since then. We don’t want to bring back past performances as we’ll be playing in a different format unlike ISL,” added Roy.

The match is scheduled at 8 PM.

At the other end, Goa coach Derrick Pereira said that despite his team’s previous wins against ATK in the ISL, the match will be a difficult one.

“We had a decent season having reached the top four last season. But this is going to be an interesting tournament and everybody is serious to put up a good show,” said the former Mahindra United and Pune FC coach.
