Bayern advance into Champions League last 8 for seventh year in a row

ISTANBUL, Turkey: Bayern Munich beat Besiktas 3-1 in the second-leg as the German giants sealed an 8-1 aggregate victory and booked a quarterfinal slot for the seventh year in a row in the Champions League here on Wednesday.

However, injury to Thiago Alcantara, who scored the opening goal, dampened the celebrations ahead of Bayern's tough Bundesliga games against RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund.

The 26-year-old went off on 35 minutes after scoring while Gokhan Gonul own goal extended the lead in the second half.

Vagner Love scored a consolation goal for Besiktas before Sandro Wagner came off the bench to mark his Champions League debut with a goal. (Pic credit: Bayern Munich twitter).
