Bengaluru aim for maiden ISL glory against Chennaiyin

BANGALORE, India: Bengaluru FC will be aiming for their maiden title when they meet Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League final at the Kanteerava Stadium here on Saturday.

“It’s going to be the toughest game of our campaign. After a few hiccups early in the season, we regrouped and did really well to finish on top. Chennaiyin have proved why they need to be battling for the trophy. They are a very strong unit and we have to go out there with everything we have,” said Bengaluru coach Albert Roca.

Bengaluru made it to the summit clash, finishing top with 40 points and became the first side to beat every team at least once in the League stages.

The Blues had beaten FC Pune City 3-1 in the semifinals, with skipper Sunil Chhetri scoring the first ever hat-trick in the competition.

Chennaiyin, meanwhile, finished second on the table, eight points less than their opponents.
