Collina to supervise FIFA Referees Workshop in Doha

Doha: Former Italian referee Pierluigi Collina will supervise a five-day FIFA Referees Workshop, which begins here on Monday.

A total of 48 officials, who are likely to officiate at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, are expected to feature along with scores of other local and international participants in the five-day programme hosted by the Qatar Football Association.

Collina, who officiated the FIFA 2002 World Cup final between Brazil and Germany, is also the Chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee.

The 57-year-old will be supervised by Executive Director of the FIFA Referee Department Massimo Busacca.

Hani Balan, Chairman of the Qatar Referees Committee and Vice-Chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, and Naji Juwaini, Executive Director of the Referees Committee, will also be part of the seminars.

This will be the second of four FIFA workshops in Qatar this month following the FIFA Technical Experts’ Workshop, which concluded last Friday.

Doha will also host the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup France (February 12-16) and  FIFA Master FUTURO Workshop (February 19-23).
