Delhi High Court reject Minerva Punjab

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday rejected Minerva Punjab's plea challenging the decision of All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) league committee not to postpone the I-League match against Real Kashmir FC in the wake of the Pulwama attack last week.

The plea was disposed of after the Punjab football club's counsel informed the court that the matter has now been taken up by the AIFF’s league committee and that they would take up the matter on February 25.

Minerva did not show up in Srinagar on Monday after asserting that the home club and the AIFF failed in providing written security assurances in the wake of the terror attack.

In its petition, Minerva had accused the AIFF of acting arbitrarily and said the football body’s rejection of its request to postpone the match was against the principles of equity and violates I-League regulations 2018-19 and FIFA Safety Guidelines.
