Frailties of ISL sides exposed as Neroca beat Kerala Blasters

BHUBANESWAR, Odisha: The frailties of Indian Super League (ISL) clubs was exposed again when Kerala Blasters FC, who finished sixth in ISL, lost 2-3 to Neroca FC at the Super Cup here on Friday.

The Manipuri side, who had finished runners-up behind Minerva Punjab in the I-League last month, came back from two goals down to score three goals in 10 minutes to pull off yet another remarkable comeback.

Kerala led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Victor Pulga (pen, 11’) and Prashant 49’)

Neroca now play Bengaluru FC in the quarterfinals a week later.

Neroca coach Gift Raikhan made two changes which proved decisive. Pritam Singh was brought in place of Saran Singh and Govin was replaced by Ashok Singh.

Pritam’s inclusion, in particular, brought in a bit of energy in the Neroca attacks as Joachim Junior (70’), Aryn Williams (79’) and Felix Chidi (pen, 82’) gave the side a remarkable victory.
