India U23 team face Qatar in Doha on Monday

NEW DELHI: India's U-23 national team left for Doha, where they will against the reigning AFC Asian Cup champions Qatar at the Aspire Academy ground on Monday.

The 23-member team, which concluded a five-day preparatory camp in Goa, feature 11 players from AIFF's developmental side -- Indian Arrows, who recently participated in the I-League and even beat top side Mohun Bagan.

“These players are our future. It’s not only about the match against Qatar or the U-23 Championship qualifiers. We should have a long term plan for them so that they can excel in future,” said India coach Derrick Pereira. “If they get right kind of experience and exposure, Indian football will go a long way.”
