Indian team ready for China friendly

NEW DELHI: India is prepared to take on China in international friendly on Saturday with senior players hoping to do well at the first-ever match between the two countries on Chinese soil.

The team is currently undergoing a training session here and coach Stephen Constantine have included 13 U-23 players, who were part of the Indian team in the SAFF Cup last month, in the camp.

“China are a strong team and the match will be a tough test for us. But we need to play against such teams to prepare for the Asian Cup. An away fixture in China is exactly the kind of game we need,” said Constantine.

The team will leave on Wednesday to play their first-ever international friendly fixture on the Chinese soil.

We are eagerly looking forward to it. They’re a strong side and have had success as a national team. Money is flowing in the league. Their FIFA ranking reflects their good work towards improving the level of football,” said defender Sandesh Jhingan. “We need to give our 100 per cent. If we play as a team, results will follow.”

Striker Jeje Lalpekhlua is also excited to be a part of the team.

“This game is going to be tricky. We need to play such game where we can learn quite a few things,” said Lalpekhlua.
