India's Sayani wins title in ITTF Asia Hope’s Week


KOLKATA, India: Promising Indian paddler Sayani Panda claimed her maiden international title when she defeated Dhima (Maldives) 3-1 at the 2019 ITTF Asia Hope’s Week in Bangkok (Thailand) on Monday.  

The performance and exposure of playing at the international level would surely boost her confidence given her excellent run at the national competitions.

Coached by Amitabha Saha, the 11-year-old girl was also selected to represent Asia in ITTF Hope’s Week in July 25-29 in Oman.

A student of Vivekananda Club at Hindmotor on the city outskirts, the youngster won the cadet title the 80th Cadet and Sub-Junior National Championships in Chandigarh in December, 2018.

Meanwhile, another Bengal player Oishik Ghosh, coached by former national champion Soumyadeep Roy, lost in the final.
