Indonesia beat Laos 4-0 in Asian Games football

BEKASI, Indonesia: Hosts Indonesia opened their 2018 Asian Games Group A campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win over Chinese Taipei while Palestine came from a goal down to beat Laos 2-1 on Sunday.

Indonesia, who now meet Palestine on August 15, broke the deadlock in the 67th minute through Lilipaly.

Four minutes later, Lilipaly released Alberto Goncalves da Costa, who made no mistake from close range to double their lead.

Lilipaly scored his second with a beautifully executed overhead kick that found the back of the net following a cross from Rezaldi Hehanussa in the 76th minute.

Muhammad Hargianto completed the rout with a superb strike from outside the box that bounced off the left post and into the goal in the final minute of added time.

Palestine overcome Laos 2-1

Palestine fought back a goal down to beat Laos 2-1 in another match of the evening.

Phoutthasay Khochalern had put his team into the lead when his crackling right-footer bulged the top left net in the 14th minute.

But Palestine, who were held to a goalless draw in their Group A opener against Chinese Taipei, came back strongly in the second half with Oday Dabbagh leading the charge.

Ayman Sandouqa’s side equalised in the 83rd minute when Shehab Qumbor headed home Mahmoud Yousef cross. Palestine continued to push hard, and in the fourth minute of added time they were rewarded when skipper Abdallatif Albahdari header earned Lebanon a dramatic win.
