Junior League: Liyaakath tricks Chennayin U15 to maiden win

CHENNAI, India: Mohamed Liyaakath scored a hat-trick as Chennaiyin FC U-15 defeated Raman Vijayan Soccer School 4-0 to claim their maiden win at the Hero Junior League on Friday.

S Yugan was the other scorer for Chennayin.

Liyaakath, who has been selected for the U-16 national camp in Goa, is the only player from Tamil Nadu. He had already played for the India U-16 side during their exposure trip to UAE in January, and was promoted to the CFC U-15 squad after scoring 23 goals for CFC U13 in the Youth League last year.

The CFC U-15s will face FC Madras U-15s in their next outing on Monday.

Liyaakath was one of the three changes made by CFC to the side that lost 1-0 in their opening game against Great Goals. Taufiq Ahamed and Kishore R.A. also came into the starting eleven as Caron Kennedy, Manoj J. and K. Suriya made way.

CFC got off to the best possible start, earning a penalty kick in the opening minute after Rahul Manjula was fouled in the RVSS box, and Liyaakath made no mistake from the spot. (Pic: ChennayinFC)
