Leipzig ends Bayern's 19-match unbeaten streak

Leipzig ends Bayern

BERLIN, Germany: Substitute Timo Werner scored a second-half winner as RB Leipzig came from behind to shock Bayern Munich 2-1 on Sunday as the Bundesliga leaders suffered their first defeat since November, a stretch of 19 matches in all competitions.

"We did not want to let them have a lot of rhythm and we achieved that. I think the first half performance was one of the best I have ever seen from us," said coach Ralph Hasenhüttl. "A big congratulations to my team. We tried a new system today that we had only practiced once before. We did not start well but our mentality was fantastic from there on in."

It was a historic night for sixth-placed Leipzig as they beat Bayern for the first time at the fifth attempt.
