Mohammedan Sporting hope to be back on winning track

CALCUTTA, India: Mohammedan Sporting would want to be back on the winning track when they take on Langsning FC in their 2nd Division League Group C match at Barasat Stadium on Monday.

Sporting had an impressive start to their campaign after they won against Jamshedpur FC and Chennaiyin FC in their first two games, but dropped to third after the defeat against TRAU FC in Imphal.

Sporting have six from three games while their opponents are a point ahead from four matches.

“The loss had upset out plans, but still there is a hope. The players are focused and we are looking forward to a good start,” said Sporting coach Biswajit Bhattacharya. “Langsning are a young team. We have to put up some good work and make sure that we take care of their strengths.”

The team had been let down by poor finishing by Ethiopian international Fikru Teferra Lemessa.

“At times, we don’t get the desired outcome despite doing the hard work. We must not panic. If we keep worrying about what has happened in the past, we will struggle.” said Fikru.

Meanwhile, Langsning coach Herring Shangpliang said the hosts will be eager to bounce back.

“The defeat against TRAU isn’t a reflection of their strength,” said Shangpliang.
