Mohammedan Sporting part ways with coach Biswajeet

KOLKATA: The recent unimpressive performances by Mohammedan Sporting and its coach Biswajit Bhattacharya parted ways following the team’s unimpressive run in the 2nd Division I-League.

The club has appointed Mridul Banerjee as the new coach, who will be seen at the dugouot against Bengaluru FC 'B' on Sunday.

“I would like to thank the club for the opportunity. I hope I will be able to bring back smile on fans,” said Banerjee, who had guided the club to second-place finish in 2016-17 Calcutta Football League.

Under Bhattacharya, Mohammedan hasn't won in their last five matches.

"We believe Banerjee is the right man for the job. He is no stranger to the club and clearly understands our philosophy,” said club General Secretary Ghazal-Uz Zafar.

Goalkeeper coach Partha Chakraborty have also decided to quit along with Bhattacharya.

“There are many talented players and I believe with the right guidance, I will be able to get the best out of them,” he added.
