Mohammedan hope to regain Bordoloi Trophy after 1991

NEW DELHI: Mohammedan Sporting will hope to regain the title they won last in 1991 when they take on Oil India FC in the 65th Bordoloi Trophy final in Guwahati, Assam, on Thursday.

Oil India scraped past TRAU FC 3-2 in the second semis while Sporting overcame Border Security Force (Jalandhar) in the other.

“It has been a long and difficult road to get to the final. It’s a culmination of hard work,” said Sporting coach Raghunath Nandy. “We will play our normal game but the most important thing for us is not to concede. Keeping things tight at the back will be important.”

With the likes of Philip Adjah, Prosenjit Chakraborty and Sumit Ghosh in the ranks, Sporting will always pose a threat but the same can be said of Oil India as Jayanta Basumatary and Mintu Boro have been in exceptional form.

The Kolkata side have scored six goals and conceded two in their run up to the final while Oil India netted seven and conceded four.
