Myanmar women beat Nepal 3-1 to win Gold Cup

KOLKATA: Yee Yee Oo scored a double as Myanmar beat Nepal 3-1 to win the Gold Cup at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday.

Oo opened the scoring in the 30th minute and added her second in the 62nd while Win Theingi Tun (53’) was the other scorer.

Manjali Kumari pulled one back in the 44th minute.

The first half was a closely-fought one with both sides bagging one goal each. Nepal had their first chance when Sabitra Bhandari broke free in the first minute and earned a corner, but her header was saved by the keeper.

Myanmar, who had defeated Nepal 3-0 in the opening match, started to assert their dominance soon.

They created two quick chances in the 10th and 17th minutes respectively. However, Win Theingi missed a header from close range and, in the second instance her cross entered into the box only to be disallowed for offside. (Pic credit: AIFF/twitter)
