Qatar Football Association ties up with Aspire and QSSA

DOHA: The Qatar School Sports Association (QSSA) renewed its partnership with the Aspire Academy of Sports Excellence and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) Development Committee following an agreement signed on Tuesday.

The conference was attended by QSSA Secretary-General Ali Ahmed Al Hitmi, Director of Football Affairs, Aspire Academy Saeed Al Marri and Chairman of the Football Development Committee QFA Fahd Thani Al Zarra in the presence of a number of officials both from the schools and academic union and development committee.

This tripartite partnership between the Federation, the Academy and the Development Committee is the primary objective of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP) -- in its ninth edition of the football competition— is to search and spot new talents.

"We are launching this collaboration with Aspire and our affiliate development committee to further the success of the 12th edition of the SOP this year. Last year, the cooperation was excellent and the number of participants in the programme was high. The boys participated in 214 boys'schools, 3154 students, 75 girls and 1225 students. It was quite remarkable that many talents were discovered and this represents an important objective of the Olympic programme," said Al Hitmi.

Al Zarra pointed that the objective of the programme is to find the right talent.

"The gains through the SOP are great for everyone. I hope that the start of this year is distinct and the best for all. We believe in the value of the programme and the goals it achieves as it serves sports," he said.
