Qatar World Cup venue all set to host Emir

DOHA: Khalifa International Stadium -- one of the venues for the 2022 FIFA World Cup – is all set to host Qatar’s season-ending football tournament Emir Cup final here on Saturday.

QNB Stars League champions Al Duhail will lock horns with Al Rayyan in the final, which will be witnessed by the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has confirmed the kick-off at 10.15pm.

The gates will open at 7.45 pm and all the previously announced events will be held at the stadium as planned.

Abdullah Al Saai, Tournament Director, Captain Abdullah Al Ghanim of Lekhwiya and Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, QFA Director of Marketing and Communication spoke to the media and outlined the programme.

Al Kuwari pointed out that the gates of the number 22-23-24-25-26 were allocated to Al Rayyan fans while gates 2-3-4-5-29 were allocated to Duhail.

Gates 11-16 are for families and people with special needs can use Gate 12.

He also informed that 8 luxury cars and 250 other valuable prizes will be distributed to the winners through the draw to be held at half time of the final.

For his part, Al Ghanim, head of the Internal Security Forces at Lekhwiya, said that there are special arrangements for the upcoming final.

He pointed out that there is a comprehensive traffic plan to avoid congestion on the roads leading to the stadium. Al Ghanim urged the crowd to come to the stadium before the kick-off to avoid missing out on the action.
