Qatar hold Iceland 2-2 in international friendly

EUPEN, Belgium: Qatar were almost close to upset Iceland, but will be happy to hold the European side to a 2-2 draw in an international friendly here.

Having upset Switzerland 1-0 last week, world No. 96 Qatar went into the Iceland tie oozing with confidence.

Felix Sanchez's side enjoyed a dream start with Hassan Al Haidous giving them the lead as early as the third minute.

However, an own goal by Saad Al Sheeb saw Iceland, ranked 36th in the world, draw level in the 29th minute.

Iceland took the lead when Kolbeinn Sigporsson scored from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, but Boualem Khoukhi equalised in the 68th.

Qatar is with Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and DPR Korea in Group E in the Asian Cup.
