Qatar hope to qualify for FIFA U-20 World Cup

DOHA, Qatar: Former champions Qatar will open their U-19 AFC Asian Cup campaign against the United Arab Emirates at the Sokarno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday.

Coached by Bruno Miguel, the squad, which reached Jakarta on Sunday, will train on a daily basis until their opening match.

The 2014 champions were drawn in Group A alongside hosts Indonesia, Chinese Taipei and UAE.

They next face Indonesia on October 21 and Chinese Taipei on October 24.

The four semifinalists will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland next summer.

Qatar had won the 2014 edition in Myanmar by beating North Korea in the final.
