Qatar outshine Singapore in two-match friendly series

DOHA: Qatar wrapped up the two-match cricket series against Singapore with a comprehensive 79-run triumph in the second one-dayer here on Friday.

Qatar had won the first match by five wickets.

Batting first after winning the toss, Qatar had put 240 before getting all out in the 50th over.

Rizlan was the highest scorer (45) followed by Kamran Khan (37), Mohd Tanveer (35) and stand-in captain Tamoor Sajjad (32).

Abhirajdeep (three wickets) and Owais picked up five wickets between them.

Singapore were all out for 161, succumbing to Sajjad’s superb bowling. He grabbed four wickets and Iqbal Chaudhary got two.

Sajjad picked up his second Man of the Match award.

Singapore was visiting Qatar on their way to Muscat (Oman) which is hosting the six-nation ICC World Cricket League Division 3 Championship.

Besides Singapore and hosts Oman, other four teams in the fray are Kenya, Uganda, the USA and Denmark. Two top teams will be promoted to the Division 2.
