Six players see red as FC Goa thrash Jamshedpur FC 5-1

BHUBANESWAR, Odisha: FC Goa thrashed Jamshedpur FC 5-1 to advance into the Super Cup semifinals here on Thursday.

Goa, who will face East Bengal on April 16, led 1-0 at half-time after Brandon Fernandes scored the opener in the 34th minute, but the match turned ugly at the start of second half when the referee expelled three players from both sides following a brawl. 

Subrata Paul, Haitian Kervens Belfort, Anas Edathodika from Jamshedpur FC and Brandon Fernandes, Spanish duo Bruno Pinheiro and Sergio Marin were sent off as both sides played with 8 players.

Ferran Corominas (69’, penalty), Manvir Singh (77’), Hugo Boumous (78’; 89’) were the other scorers for FC Goa while Ashim Biswas pulled one back for Jamshedpur in the second half added time.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC will take on NEROCA FC in the quarterfinals tomorrow.
