NEW DELHI: Sydney FC beat India U23 team 3-0 in a friendly at the Macquarie University Sports Field, Sydney, on Tuesday.

The three-time A-League and reigning A-League premier champions opened the scoring in the 37th minute by Brosquey when he headed home a cross from Michael Zullo.

Six minutes later, Adam Le Fondre doubled the lead from close while Trent Buhagiar rounded off the tally in the 86th minute.

“We’re learning to adapt to the environment away from our home and focusing on the matches. The reason behind choosing a young squad is to provide them with international exposure before the SAFF Championship in Dhaka,” said India coach Stephen Constantine.

Meanwhile, Churchill Brothers’ request to participate in I-League’s next edition was forwarded to Emergency Committee by the tournament league committee.

The committee also decided to launch the league’s 11th edition from October last week.
