Tetteh shines in Mohammedan Sporting

KOLKATA: Philip Adjah Tetteh turned out to be the hero as he scored two second-half goals to hand Mohammedan Sporting a deserving 2-1 victory over East Bengal in the Kolkata football league derby here on Tuesday.

It was the red and gold brigade who shot into the lead after Johny Acosta found the target in the 12th-minute.

East Bengal led 1-0 at half-time, but things changed after the Ghanaian international was pressed into action in the second half.

Tetteh was signed by the club on August 28 as replacement for Leonce Dodoz, who was sidelined owing to a ankle injury.

East Bengal’s 17-games unbeaten streak was brought to an end by Peerless, but today’s defeat has almost ruled out their chances to retain the title, and Mohun Bagan (23 points) can win the crown after nine years if they beat Customs on the morrow.
