This year's league will be tough, says Subrata

KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting coach Subrata Bhattacharya said that with time his team will become stronger ahead of the new season.

“I think the boys are really working hard. Each day we grow stronger and are more united as a team,” said Bhattacharya on the club’s website.

This season the club has hired new players alongside experienced Kamran Farooque, Priyant Singh, Prosenjit Paul, Satyam Sharma, Balwinder Singh, Arthur Kouassi, Kareem Omolaja Nurain and Tirthankar Sarkar.

“Players are interacting more with each other building more chemistry and the new group of players has adapted well to our training philosophy,” added the former Mohun Bagan star.

This year’s Calcutta Football League will have stiff competitive with teams like Southern Samity, Bhawanipore and Peerless have been able to put together a strong squad.

“I’ve no doubts that this will be by far the toughest league. That’s why we are preparing like never before,” added Bhattacharya.

Mohammedan has never the local league since 1981.

“What we’ve been doing in the training sessions in a competitive environment so we can assess our workouts. We’re aware of the challenges and that’s why we want to sweat more at the training sessions,” he added.
