We're happy, but it was a difficult win, says Zidane

MUNICH, Germany: Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane was happy after his team’s 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League semis first leg, but the Frenchman heaved a sigh of relief.

“We can be happy, satisfied with that result, but we struggled to get the ball. Winning here is not easy. We have the motivation to do well, but we struggled. We like playing here and well, but started badly but finished well,” said Zidane.

Real took a step closer to a third straight European title after Marco Asensio hit the winner in a 2-1 first-leg come-back victory in Munich on Wednesday.

“The error prior to the goal is down to all of us. We were not set up well and it was a consequence of errors, not just Keylor. In the second half, he had two or three saves and he did well. We suffered without the ball. Ribery was great. In the second half, even with Lucas Vazquez at right back due to Carvajal being injured, we did well down that side,” he added.
