DOHA: The International Friendship Artistic Gymnastics Championship officially kicked off on Friday at Aspire Academy, marking the beginning of a two-day event filled with high-level competition.
A total of 225 young gymnasts from six countries—Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq—are competing across 16 teams, with the opening ceremony drawing a distinguished crowd of officials from the Qatar Gymnastics Federation and the parents of the athletes.
The event’s opening was highlighted by a stunning performance from the rhythmic gymnasts of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation, who dazzled the audience with an artistic display set to a mix of traditional and international music.
The show was met with enthusiastic applause from both the competitors and their supporters in the stands, creating a festive atmosphere to kick off the championship.
Qatar is well-represented in the competition, with 60 gymnasts from the Qatar Gymnastics Club Academy and the Qatar Gymnastics Academy showcasing their talents.
