NEW DELHI (India): The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) said that it is currently reviewing its constitution as it want the continental federations to be closer to their main decision-making bodies.
This was one of the several important decisions that were taken at ITTF’s Executive Committee meeting held in Chengdu (China) recently.
“The EC meeting was an historic one. The ITTF approved the structure of world table tennis. It will bring funds into the sport and allow us to make significant strides,” said ITTF President Thomas Weikert.
The ITTF felt that the relationship with the continental federations is often not ideal.
The international body believes that this has a lot to do with the current governance structure.
“We made good progress with our governance review as well as making the decision to be much more vigilant as regards making the sport of table tennis more sustainable,” added Weikert.
