KOLKATA (India): Mohammedan Sporting remained firm favourites to make the cut for this season’s I-League after they beat ARA 4-1 on Sunday, but their coach Yan Law parted ways with the club.
The Indian coach, who had signed a one-year contract with the Kolkata-based club, took to social media to make his departure official.
He wrote, “I have resigned as the Head Coach of Mohammedan Sporting Club from the i-league Qualifiers 2020. Best wishes to the Club for the remaining matches and their future in the i-league and ISL.”
Soon Mohammedan also released a statement saying that the contract with Law had been terminated with immediate effect.
Club sources indicated that Yan did not step down but was in fact asked to leave.
“The employment of Head Coach Yan Cheng Law with Mohammedan Sporting Club is terminated with immediate effect (Dated 11/10/2020) We wish him the best for his future endeavours,” the club tweeted.
