DOHA (Qatar): The Qatar Football Association (QFA) can take the credit for their exceptional organisational skill in hosting AFC Champions League’s East Zone matches.
The competition started in Doha last month, with the final scheduled to take place on December 13.
“The fact that Qatar is hosting the month-long event shows the confidence of FIFA and AFC has on us to deliver a successful event,” said Mohammed Al Atwan, QFA Director of Facilities Department Al Atwan.
Dato’ Windsor John, the AFC General Secretary, said: “We are extremely grateful for the outstanding support of the QFA and are pleased that we can now build on the success of the AFC Champions League (West) while looking forward to the remaining exciting matches in Asia’s premier club competition.”
“The LOC is providing all requirements sought from us by the AFC. The Asian football body has chosen Qatar to host the East Zone matches after we successfully conducted the West Zone matches in Sept-Oct. We have helped AFC to complete its season in the most difficult circumstances prevailing around the world because of the COVID-19 situation,” Al Atwan added.
QFA Secretary General Mansoor Alansari said: “We are very happy to provide a safe environment for the AFC in order to complete the AFC Champions League and look forward to hosting the leading clubs from the East Zone during November and December.”
