DOHA (Qatar): The Qatar women cricketers will play an exhibition T10 match on Friday at the Asian Town Stadium in Doha, Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) officials informed.
The match, which is the shortest version of the game, will be between two QCA teams – QCA Women’s Pink and QCA Women’s Yellow and will comprise of players who have already represented Qatar in international tournaments, and rest of them are probables who have been trying to find their way into the national team.
Qatar women’s team last played an international match in January and, the Xmas Day exhibition match will be the first one for the Qatar national team players since the outbreak of the pandemic in March.
On a positive note, things have gradually improved in the last few months as the several academies restarting their activities with health ministry regulations in place.
Several national players had been training at Stallions Cricket Academy (Doha) and Bravo Cricket Academy (Al Wukair), with the latter boasts of a presence of six women players from the Qatar senior squad.
“A number of tournaments got cancelled, but we’re hopeful that international events will resume and we will get to play some matches,” Qatar captain Ayesha Mohammad told KhelUpdates.com.
