DOHA (Qatar): Former Chile international Nicolas Cordova was appointed as the new coach of the Qatar U23 football team, Qatar Football Association (QFA) said on Tuesday.
The former midfielder will manage the Olympic team which is getting ready for key events in 2021 and beyond.
Cordova has played for several South American clubs and has also represented Chile national teams besides coaching the U-20 team in 2015.
He began his career in Colo-Colo of Chile in the top flight. He played from 1997 until 2001 playing 54 matches and scoring three goals.
In the 2004–05 season, he played Livorno. In September 2008, he was signed for Grosseto.
Qatar U-23 squad will participate in the 2022 AFC U-23 Championship qualifying phase at a later date next year.
