DOHA (Qatar): The upcoming International Judo Federation (IJF) World Judo Doha Masters 2021 will be a perfect dress rehearsal for the 2023 World Championships, a top official of Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation (QTJKF) has said.
“The Doha Masters will act as a rehearsal event for the bigger World Championships. With the support of the QOC, we will be ready for the big event which will involve more than 1000 male and female athletes,” said Eid Al Meraikhi, Doha Masters 2021 Tournament Director and QTJKF Secretary-General.
Al Meraikhi said all measures have been taken to keep all participants safe during the January 11 to 13 event which will be act as qualifying event for the Tokyo Olympics.
“The IJF and QTJKF have jointly set up health protocols in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of
Interior to accommodate all delegations in one hotel in a quarantine. All the participants will undergo PCR test, first on arrival before being taken to their hotels. Another test will be conducted before they compete on each day of the tournament,” he said.
