DOHA (Qatar): Former French World Cup champion Laurent Blanc and Al Rayyan coach said his team’s goal would be finish third in the Qatar Stars League.
Rayya, who last won the league in 2105-16, face Al Khor tomorrow.
“The match will not be easy for Al Rayyan and our opponents. It will be an open game. It will be good for everyone who loves football. It is true that the situation of the two teams is not the same. We want to win to maintain our third place in the league,” said the Frenchman.
“We lost the last match against Al Sadd, but after playing with a big heart. I hope we continue to carry on this performance.”
Rayyan are currently third with 34 points followed by Al Ahli (33) while Al Khor, who are 11th, will fight for survival.
“I know how important this match is and the players know it as well. This is the last match in the league. We want to win. I know that it is a different match. I am confident that after two bad matches against Umm Salal and Al Sailiya, the team has done well against Al Sadd,” said Blanc.
Al Rayyan player Dame Traore said, “The players need to be fully focused against Al Khor. We must deliver a good performance. Certainly, any team can go through a bad situation and we are now in a bad position, but we will do the best for the sake of returning to form.”
