DOHA (Qatar): The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy announced the completion of the exterior structure of Lusail Stadium, with the last plot installed today.
It is here that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final will be staged, with billions around the globe watching on.
Lusail Stadium, which has a proposed capacity of 80,000 seats, embodies the ambition and enthusiasm of Qatar towards sharing Arab culture with the whole world.
The announcement of the design of Lusail Stadium to be the last of the eight stadiums announced by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.
The design of Lusail Stadium blends ancient and modern Islamic architecture, as the exterior facade is decorated with Arab geometric shapes designed in an innovative way that allows sunlight to enter inside the stadium.
Foster and Partners, the British company, came up with the design vision for this stadium while its construction is overseen by a consortium consisting of Hamad Bin Khaled Qatar Contracting Company and China Railway Company Ltd.
It is expected that upon completion of its construction, Lusail will become the city of the future given that it has all the facilities and elements of modern life, in addition to its important historical value in the hearts of Qataris.
The venue will become the centrepiece of Lusail – a newly built, state-of-the-art metropolis, designed specifically with residents’ needs in mind.
Lusail Stadium will write a new page in Qatar’s history, while paying homage to the rich past of the country and region.
