DOHA: The first round of the Qatar Off-Road Championship started today at Sealine while the administrative checks and scrutineering for the vehicles was conducted yesterday.
The championship, organised by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation consists of six rounds.
The first three rounds will be Enduro (endurance) and the remaining three will be the Baja category.
The sixth and final round will offer double points to the participants.
After today’s first round, the second round is scheduled for October 22 and 23.
Two rounds each are scheduled in November and December, with the season finale to be staged on December 10 and 11.
Each round will be open to vehicles of the following classes: Class 1 – Motorcycles up to and including 450cc; Class 2 – Motorcycles over 450cc and Class 3 – Quads. Each round will be run on a desert circuit specially designed for the purpose.
