DOHA: The stage is set to host this year’s MotoGP Championship season-opener under the dazzling floodlights of Lusail International Circuit, 30km outside of capital city of Qatar.
The tournament, which will be hosted by Lusail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC), will undoubtedly be one of the most spectacular events on the MotoGP calendar as fans will experience the raw and thrilling action at night.
The event will be held from March 4-6, and it will be the only one-night race of the FIM MotoGP World Championship 2022.
The championship has already attracted the attention of the public with several activities are in store during the event.
Qatar hosted the first event at the venue during the October 2004 Grand Prix of Qatar won by Sete Gibernau.
In 2008, the country celebrated the first floodlit Grand Prix in the history of the MotoGP World Championship. Having hosted 2 race rounds back-to-back in 2021, this year’s season open will mark the 20th race held at the Lusail International Circuit.
The organisers revealed the list of activities that will accompany the grand finale. It was officially announced the event will be divided into three parts:
- A family friendly Friday during which kids under the age of 12 will be allowed to partake in the event and its various activities for free.
- A memorable Sunday featuring a concert by the talented Bader Al-Shuaibi.
- MotoGP Exhibition which will introduce those who are not very well acquainted with the sport to its historical background.
