DOHA: Ahmed Alkuwari took the first spot in the Auto category of the first round of the Qatar Off-Road Championship will concluded on Saturday and which took place over two days.
Ahmed Al-Muhannadi took the second spot followed by Abdulla Al Khelaifi.
The championship, organised by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), saw nine competitors taking part in the event.
The competition consists of six rounds with the first round was a Baja category while two more rounds will also be Baja category (third and fourth round).
The second round on March 11 and 12 will be Enduro (endurance) while the fifth and last round, the dates which are yet to be announced will also be of Enduro category.
The third round will be held on March 23 and 24 and the fourth round on March 26.
Each round will be open to vehicles of the following classes: Class 1 – Motorcycles up to and including 450cc; Class 2 – Motorcycles over 450cc and Class 3 – Quads. Each round will be run on a desert circuit specially designed for the purpose.
