KARACHI: Hosts Pakistan will look to continue their winning run against New Zealand when both sides meet up today in the fourth ODI of the five-match series.
The wicket at the National Stadium has shown to assist the batsmen so far, with the highest score reaching up to 374. Like what the hosts did in the previous match, choosing to bowl first and chasing the target down could prove to be a wise decision.
Pakistan has already wrapped up the series by taking an unassailable 3-0 lead against the Kiwis.
But going by their recent form, Babar Azam and his team-mates would be in no mood to allow the visitors a walk in the park.
Imam ul Haq, who won the Player-of-the-Match award for his match-winning 90 in the third ODI, is not in favour of experimenting with Pakistan’s underperforming middle order.
Haq was not convinced by the option of playing Iftikhar Ahmed or Mohammad Haris as power-hitters in the middle overs.
“We don’t have time to do experiments. With Agha Salman, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz, we’ve enough power-hitting to improvise. It’s just a matter of giving them confidence,” he told www.espncricinfo.com.
