Lausanne, Switzerland: Following the conclusion of the inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup in Oman earlier this year, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has released the first ever Hockey5s world rankings.
The rankings take into consideration the performances of the teams in the Continental Championships for the World Cup and the Hockey5s World Cup itself.
In the men’s Hockey5s World Rankings, Netherlands stand at the top, winning the inaugural World Cup following their victory at the European Championships, which have accrued 1750 points for them.
In second place there’s a three-way tie between Malaysia (1400) who finished as silver medalists in the World Cup, improving massively since their 4th place finish at the Asian Championships, Oman (1400) who won an incredible bronze medal in front of their home crowd in their first ever hockey world cup appearance and India (1400) who finished in fifth place at the World Cup after having won the Asian Championship.
