BARBADOS: In a thrilling T20 World Cup match at the Kensington Oval, Namibia edged out Oman in a nail-biting Super Over finish, thanks to historic bowling by Ruben Trumpelmann and a standout all-round performance by David Wiese.
Trumpelmann etched his name in the record books by becoming the first player to take wickets with the first two deliveries of a T20 international.
The 26-year-old left-arm fast bowler dismissed Oman’s opener Kashyap Prajapati and captain Aqib Ilyas for golden ducks on the opening balls of the match.
Trumpelmann continued his impressive spell, claiming another wicket in his second over to achieve career-best figures of 4-21. Despite his efforts, Oman’s Khalid Kail top-scored with 34 runs off 39 balls, guiding his team to a modest total of 109 runs in 19.4 overs.
Mehran Khan’s stunning spell helped Oman tie the game, but David Wiese’s heroics in the Super Over gave Namibia a win in their opening match.
