RAWALPINDI: The opening day of the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was completely washed out on Friday due to persistent rain and a wet outfield. The umpires, after inspecting the conditions around noon, decided to call off the day’s play without the toss taking place.
Pakistan, eager to bounce back after a crushing 10-wicket defeat in the first Test at the same venue, were left frustrated as the inclement weather prevented any play. With more rain forecasted for later in the day, hopes of getting the series back on track have been further dampened.
In response to their all-pace strategy failing in the first Test, Pakistan made a significant change to their lineup by including leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, while dropping pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi. However, the new combination will have to wait until the weather improves to make an impact on the field.
