Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia): The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reinforced its firm ambitions to safeguard and enhance the health and wellbeing of players on the Continent today after the AFC Medical Committee approved Saudi Arabia’s Move Comprehensive Sports Medicine Centre as the latest AFC Medical Centre of Excellence at its third meeting here.
Since its launch in 2018, the AFC Medical Centre of Excellence has taken its place as one of the Continent’s most sought after football-specific medicine accreditation programmes that recognise medical institutions for their leadership in clinical, research and education expertise, injury-prevention measures as well as experience in managing injuries in elite-level football.
As the first institution to be recognised in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Move Comprehensive Sports Medicine Centre’s inclusion brings the network of AFC-recognised medical centres to 13 across Asia, following the Committee’s decision to induct two centres at its last meeting earlier this year.
