DOHA: The organizing committee of the Captain Saeed Al Misned Futsal Championship unveiled the second Ramadan championship that will kick off from March 3 to 12.
Patronized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth in collaboration with the Qatar Football Association (QFA), Aspire Zone Foundation, the Qatar Police Sports Federation, and Al Khor SC, the tournament will be hosted at the outdoor playgrounds of Al Bayt Stadium in the city of Al Khor.
This was announced during a press conference attended by CEO of the tournament and member of the QFA’s veterans, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mohannadi, alongside several representatives of the participating teams.
The 12 participating teams were divided into three groups. The first round follows a single-stage format, with the top two teams from each group and the best third-placed teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
On Monday, Um Al Jamaim will face Al Dhakhira in the opening match, followed by Barkan Falcons against Um Al Afai, and Al Khor vs. Al Wakra in Group A, while the next day, the captain team will confront Madinat Khalifa, Al Qurain will meet Haloul, and Al Ghuwayriah will face Al Taawon in Group B.
Each team consists of 12 players, with 6 on the field. Matches in the group stage last 40 minutes, and 50 minutes in knockout rounds, refereed by officials accredited by QFA.
Individual and group prizes have been allocated for winners, with the champion receiving QR30,000, and QR20,000 will go to the runner-up, in addition to allocating prizes for the best player, striker, and goalkeeper. (QNA)
