DOHA: Serie A is exploring the possibility of India hosting the Italian Super Cup, aiming to expand the tournament’s global reach, according to Michele Ciccarese, the league’s commercial and marketing director.
The prestigious match, which pits the Serie A and Coppa Italia champions against the runners-up, was most recently held in Saudi Arabia this January. AC Milan triumphed over Inter Milan 3-2, securing their eighth Super Cup title.
“What we do is to bring our international trophy like the Super Cup in all over the world, for a simple reason, to engage a wider audience and bring the best of that culture,” Ciccarese said during the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit.
“So, that’s exactly what we might do, and take the conversation forward to … come here and play in India.”
