The Central Asian side took the lead in first-half injury time through Valeriy Kichin, but Qatar responded quickly after the break when Lucas Mendes found the equalizer in the 52nd minute. However, the game took a decisive turn just two minutes later as Mendes was sent off, leaving the AFC Asian Cup holders with 10 men for the remainder of the match.
Kyrgyz Republic capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Aleksandr Mischenko producing a stunning long-range strike in the 82nd minute to restore their lead. Alimardon Shukurov sealed the victory in the dying moments, netting a composed finish in the third minute of stoppage time.
The win marks Kyrgyz Republic’s second triumph in the third phase of the qualifiers, taking their tally to six points from eight matches. They now sit four points behind fourth-placed Qatar, with two fixtures remaining in their campaign.
