DOHA: Abdullah Al Jaaidi of Team Doha Cycling won the National Road Race Championship’s elite race.
The championship elite race got off to an aggressive start with five riders breaking clear and building a 90 second lead before swinging around into the wind.
Riders came to the finish in ones and twos rather than contesting a bunch sprint.
The elite leaders dropped Marwan Al Jalham (Rasen Adventure Shop) before the end of the first lap, leaving him hanging in no-mans land.
Meanwhile, in the chasing group, two of the favourites for the title, Bilal Al Saadi (Rasen Adventure Shop) and Ahmad Albourdainy (Team Doha Cycling), effectively marked each other out of contention. This allowed Abdullah Al Jaaidi (Team Doha Cycling) to escape, then close the gap to Al Jalham.
These two former champions then worked to get back to the head of the race.
