DOHA (Qatar): Al Ahli coach Nebosha Jovovic said that the break has helped his team to rejuvenate for Qatar Stars League that restarts on Saturday.
“We are ready to face Umm Salal. The long break between our last match and this match in the league was enough for me to prepare the players in a good way and correct our mistakes in order to be back on the winning path,” said Jovovic. “This match will not be easy. We have prepared well. We respect our opponents as they are one of the best teams.”
However, Ahli were thrashed by Al Sadd 7-1 in their previous round, and that huge defeat would serve them a lesson.
“We have not forgotten the heavy loss (1-7) against Al Sadd. We have learnt a lot from it. Big defeat is not good. I borrow the saying repeated by coaches in Italy and erstwhile Yugoslavia that “it is better to lose by seven goals at one time than losing seven times by one goal,” added Jovovic.
“Past is past and we are now fully ready to face Umm Salal with the aim of returning to the path of victories. I have great confidence in my players’ abilities. I never doubted them and they have worked very seriously in the past period for the next stage.”
