DOHA (Qatar): Reigning champions Al Sadd are 10 points behind table-toppers Al Duhail and only a miracle could see them retain the Qatar Stars League (QSL) title.
Xavi Hernandez’s side face Al Khor at home on Saturday (July 25) with the Spanish midfield great will be hoping his players can go on a winning run and Duhail and Al Rayyan falter as the league resumes today.
Sadd are third in the QSL standings with 32 points, 10 less than Duhail and six adrift of Rayyan.
The Wolves have 10 wins, two draws and five defeats and their goal difference is +18 (45 goals for and 27 against).
Sadd have scored the most number of goals than any other team while Rayyan are second (34) and Duhail third (33).
Sadd had lost 0-1 to Al Rayyan in the high-profile Qatar Clasico in Week 17 on March 7 before the long break, with Franck Kom netting the all-important goal.
The club has recently announced the departure of Spaniard Gabi Fernandez and Mexican Marco Fabian, but renewed the deal with Qatari star Akram Afif until 2025 while also keeping Xavi for one more season.
